The Kemptown Verses

By JJ Leahy

Big Black Car

Big Black Range Rover
Make way – move over,
Own the manor or fancy wine bar
Bully, bully, big black car!

See the red, the traffic light
Drive on through, it’s your right;
See them coming – from afar
Bully, bully, big black car!

Muscles throbbing, under the skin
Polished shiny, where you bin?
Looks important, like a pop star
Bully, bully, big black car!

Paid the deposit, now you own her
Compensation for, a lack of persona,
Porridge served with facial scar
Bully, bully, big black car!

No time to stop, ran over a fox
Always carry a knife, in the glove box;
A gangster’s dummy a big fat cigar
Bully, bully, big black car!

It’s looking good, being flash
Tasty geezer with wads of cash,
Says something right, about who you are
Bully, bully, big black car!

Off the ferry, shipment of tabs
Cut the deal with the Dutch labs,
But motorway pileup, say au revoir
To bully, bully, big black car!
