The Kemptown Verses

By JJ Leahy

Fur Crazy

Gioioso
Twitching whiskers and cold button noses
Furry woolly wiggles and cat nap dozes;

Squeaks, grunts, purrs and playful fun giggles
Wobbly bum dance moves with cute step wiggles.

It’s come to that very day of the working week
Plushies party time – to dance and squeak

Shinny glass eyes burn with unfettered glee
Only stop bopping around – to go for a pee.

Council blocks or luxury town lairs
Bunnies, Foxes, Pussies and Bears;

Everybody bounces to their favourite songs
A world far away from the rights and wrongs.

All worries and concerns are left behind
Its furry cuddles – of the fluffy kind,

And the gossip about town is, Boo loves Pooh
But she is a pussy and he a kangaroo!

Her last beau was Giggles, the lovely bear
Now glazing across the floor, with an angry stare.

But it was all defused by Stompy the rabbit
He snuggles up to everybody, but only by habit.

A tipsy woolly dog and a little stoned Koala
They’re passionately kissing – downstairs in the parlour,

A lone kitten complained that she feels all sticky
Stay away from the tabby! The one called Mickie.

Back to normal jobs and streets they would roam
Its time for the Furries to make their way home;

The postman delivering mail, to your a letter box
In the evening time, he’s a sophisticate fox.

Latin teacher with her – linguistic declension
Is the Lioness hosting the Plushopilia convention
Non Furries may laugh and scoff at their style
But aren’t you that rabbit, with the infectious smile?
