The Kemptown Verses

By JJ Leahy

Education of Choristers

Andante
Like a plague ship possessed
The archdeacon undressed;

With an ideological blind eye
To the effected that do cry,

Men of lesser morality
Engage inexcusable brutality.

While preaching down devotion
Enter children left in motion

Attitude taints a vulnerable life
Damage akin from a venerable knife.

Lives ruined by secrets and shame
The perpetrators ignoble game,

From those who knew better
Respond with dead letter;

Perverts suck up to their protectors
Expound with lies their deflectors.

Selfishness incarnate inextricably cruel
Taking advantage of those in school,

Never the crime, time to explore
Just move parish, to the one next door;

Carry on molesting blindly unfazed
While victims feel dirty, guilty and dazed.

Preaching sermons of hypocrisy
While forever shielded by the theocracy

Million years to the beat of a heart
Confession indeed, a prudent start,

No more excuse left to prolong
The church must admit that they were wrong.

Understand its time to recant the lies
Stop all abuse and apologize.
