The Kemptown Verses

Catnap On The Beach

Largo
Keep your worries out of reach
Take a catnap on the beach,
The start is where – I usually begin
Yet ipso facto, life in a spin.

To a troubled mind, its nature’s bleach
Take a catnap on the beach,
I’m trying to justify the daily grind
Peace of mind – is hard to find.

Universally content, a figure of speech
Take a catnap on the beach,
Constructing pictures with the clouds
Free from bustle – away from the crowds.

A gulls communicates with a rakish screech
Take a catnap on the beach,
Interrogate my thoughts, confused but rife
Arduously struggling with the rigors of life.

Furious the wind blows, clinging on like a leach
Still take a catnap on the beach,
Through the toil of survival, so difficult to care
Exultant on the beach, to grin and bear.

Oh to find, such a happy niche
Take a catnap on the beach,
When imagination allowed to run free
At ease on the beach, is the life for me.

Too distrusting to learn – too naïve to teach
Take a catnap on the beach,
Soon back in the harness, called a career
Nothing left to show, that I was once here.

Leave others to pontificate and to preach
Take a catnap on the beach,
Return to the servitude, or I’ll be axed
Still my goal, is to stay relaxed.
