The Kemptown Verses

By JJ Leahy

Bliss

Adagio
The vista like smudged turbulence, cased a gloomy macabre of silver blue sheen

As heavily pregnant clouds jostle for space – they mask over the murky dark mirrored seascape,

And merge with the ever furious tide, energetically surging forward

Both fitted together to form a irksome collage through a bitter cold mist;

As waves smashed creating white explosions onto the stony encumbered beach
Watch them racing further and further up the bumpy concourse like eager petulant children,

Then rapidly retreat away back to the chaotic sea.

Torrents of excited white foam briefly cascading into the air
The residue popping, collapsing and final dissipating.

Moving with long steps, two forward slide one back – I labour across
The damp subsiding pebbles;

Not a living soul around, no one to flaunt their ignorance
No stupid comments, just myself enjoying the angry wind and rain;

I immerse in the pleasure of the solitude with such heartfelt passion

Just me and the pure fresh unbridled nature – Embracing the rampant
peacefulness

Free to relax, in the kind rage of the elements. Bliss.

Enthusiastically invigorated by the rhythmic swell
The surge of sea spray on my face – I am content

I dance and shout out, with arms outstretched – extolling the rudiments of nature
Deafened and so insistently heckled by the frantic wind;

Priceless, this precious time spent on the beach,
Taking huge deep breaths and a satisfied sigh
In the arms of manic elements – the magic of sea, wind and sky.
This worlds’ OK, least today….
Think I’ll stay…for one more day.
